Fausto Masnada was one of the breakthrough riders at the 2019 Giro d’Italia. Selle San Marco, partner for Team Androni Giocattoli Sidermec, has decided to celebrate Fausto Masnada’s achievements in the Corsa Rosa with a saddle custom made just for him. The chosen layout highlights the moment in the 6th stage, when the rider for Androni Giocattoli Sidermec crossed the finish line first, arms raised in the air in victory, at the arrival in San Giovanni Rotondo. This season Fausto Masnada has been pedalling on the Aspide Racing Pro-Series saddle by Selle San Marco.

In addition to this stage success, Fausto Masnada stood out as a major player in the Corsa Rosa, conquering this edition’s climb on “Cima Coppi”, being the first rider over the summit on Passo Manghen (2047 metres), and dominating the classification for intermediate sprints as well as the competitive classification.

After having raced in the Tour of Slovenia last week, Fausto Masnada will return to racing on Sunday, June 30th, in the Italian Championships, which will be held this year in the area of Alta Val Taro in Emilia Romagna. The route will be challenging, but it could potentially be suited to Masnada’s technical skills.

Fausto Masnada visited the Selle San Marco headquarters in Rossano Veneto to take delivery of his customized saddle. The rider from Bergamo had this to say: “I’d like to thank Selle San Marco for this gift; it is a really beautiful and eye-catching saddle. I am flattered for all the attention I’ve been given. The 2019 Giro d’Italia was an indescribably emotional experience. After the Tour of the Alps and the two victories I won there, I knew I was in top form to take on the Giro d’Italia. However, having garnered success as early as the 6th stage gave me the peace of mind and confidence to take on the remaining two weeks of the race in the best headspace possible. Now I am concentrating on Sunday’s tests in the Italian Championships and then I will start preparing for the second part of my season.”

“Fausto Masnada got us really fired up at the Giro d’Italia and we were happy to make a personalized saddle for him that would commemorate his achievements,” says Selle San Marco Administrator Giuliana Bigolin. “As a partner for Team Androni Giocattoli Sidermec, we are happy with the season that the team from Gianni Savio is having so far; not just for what we saw at the Giro, but for the general competitiveness and dedication that their riders are demonstrating in every race. Their riders pedal on our saddles and this allows us to receive important feedback on our products, so we can fine tune the features on all the models we offer to our customers.”
